| MT-200X
- GSM Data Protocol Analyser and Simulator |
| |
| The MT-200X GSM Data Protocol Analyser,
Simulator and Generator designed for testing the GSM network. Within
the GSM network MT200X can be connected to any link witch has an E1
or T1 interface,e.g. the interface between the Base Transreceiver Station
(BTE) and the Base Station Controller (BSC) , between a BSC and the
Mobile Switching Center (MSC) , and in the interwork function (IWF).
The MT200X can also test ISDN PRI interface. It supports all data,
fax , speech and signalling protocols in GSM. It is one of the most
complete tester for GSM network on the marked today. |

| MT-200X
Features |
| The standard system comprises an
industrial PC running the Linux operating system and X-Window system,
one interface card supporting dual channel monitoring and a basic
software package. |
| |

Data simulation |
| |
Combining monitoring and simulation makes it
easier to isolate and detect faulty situations, due to the fact that
entire protocol layers may be emulated. And it is particularly strong
in detecting logical errors, such as sequencing errors, bad acknowledgements,
etc. These tests can be automated and run by the click of a button:
The engineer would normally use a script that is earmarked to simulate
special traffic or fault conditions. When running this type of script,
the MT-200X will simulate an active, communicating network element,
transmitting and receiving data – assisting the engineer in analysing
the network conditions |
| |
|

Simulation scripts and system MT-C |
| |
Typically, companies using Moesarc protocol
analysers will write their own data simulation scripts, and gradually
assemble a library of useful scripts. Additionally, Moesarc Technology
provides a set of sample scripts for the different protocols, and
which may be customised to suit special needs or test requirements.
We can also provide specialised scripts on demand, or give assistance
in writing useful scripts. The MT-200X is equipped with a new and
improved script system, MT-C, that makes it easier for users to write
their own programs (scripts) for their specific needs. For users
familiar with the older MT-100 and MT-200 products, MT-C is a greatly
improved script language. For instance, MT-C is a free form editable
language. This means that an ordinary text editor can be used to
create and modify the scripts. Another advantage is that the MT-C
syntax and semantics are almost identical to the widely used C programming
language. Old scripts from the MT-100/MT-200 systems can be run on
the MT-200X system |

Signalling no.SS7 |
| |
Our SS7 functionality has been developed to
assist the user in configuring the MT-200X for the reception of data/fax
and speech calls. The automatic traffic channel configuration is
based on SS7 signalling on the A-interface in the GSM network. One
interface card is connected to the line(s) comprising the data traffic.
A second card continuously monitors the signalling and enables the
unit to automatically set the traffic channel timeslot and protocol
when the desired call is set up. A number of trigger options are
available, including called or calling party phone number and now
are extended to support ISUP/ BSSAP. |
| |
|
| • |
Triggers and filters |
| |
This feature allows the user to start file
captures, monitoring sessions or initiate simulation scripts execution
using a trigger. The different trigger types available are: |
| |
| • |
Time: Set a start and stop time as a trigger
condition. |
| • |
Frame types: Fire trigger if a certain
frame type is received. |
| • |
Error conditions: Fire trigger if CRC
or sync errors detected. |
| • |
Calling/Called phone number |
| • |
Speech |
| • |
Transparent Data |
| • |
Non-Transparent Data |
|
| |
|
| • |
Timeslot monitor |
| |
The timeslot monitoring option allows continuous analysis
of the type of traffic present on the different timeslots on the line
at any given time. It does not rely on any external signalling information
and distinguishes between the various low level data in addition to
the data rates. Furthermore, the received information may be used to
automatically set the basic protocol level, switch to the timeslot
where traffic is present and commence monitoring and capture to file |
| |
|
| • |
Quality of Service verification |
| |
Test reports can be generated automatically by the
system to give a general health check of the equipment being tested.
The test report will contain the number of received packets, CRC errors,
etc.. |
| |
|
| • |
Remote operation |
| |
The MT-200X can be remotely operated from a PC or
UNIX workstation that is capable of running X-client software (includes
Windows9x/NT). Using an Ethernet connection over TCP/IP the unit can
be remotely set up via a Telnet utility. Any remote unit capable of
running X-client software (i.e. Windows9x/NT, a range of UNIX systems
etc.) can connect to MT-200X and run the MT applications installed |
| |
|
| • |
MTReplay |
| |
| • |
MTReplay software runs under MS-Windows
9x/NT and is a tool for offline analysis of captured files.
In addition to all the above protocols. |

| The Signaling functionality in MT-200X
is available for several interfaces, i.e. GSM A interface (BSSAP),
GSM Abis interface (BTSM), GSM IWF (BSSAP and ISUP), and ISDN PRI
(LAPD). Besides normal test features like protocol analysis, call
simulation, and call session registrations, MT200X provides automatic
traffic channel (TCH) timeslot and protocol switching at call set
up and release, based on signaling information detected on the related
interfaces. |

| Operation System and GUI: |
| The MT-200X software runs on a standard
PC under the Linux operating system (RedHat Fedora Core 4), where the
user interface runs in the X Window graphical environment. The interface
card driver works in a special loadable module for a standard Linux
kernel. |
| |
| Hardware: |
A multi-purpose T1/E1 interface adapter,
Thor-2-PCI Plus board, is used. An alternative is a Thor-2 PCMCIA board
which supports almost the same functionality as the PCI board, but
a limited capacity. The card supports two T1 or E1 interfaces at the
speeds of 1.544 Mbps and 2.048 Mbps respectively. Two transmitters
and two receivers are provided for each board. The operation mode,
as well as the line terminating impedance, is software switchable.
The card also supports a high-impedance mode for monitoring.
The line interfaces support several different line codes: |

|

B8ZS - Bipolar 8 Zero Substitution |
